I am so sick of these so called blind conservatives who are more than happy to go on and on about Obama or how unions ruin this country or what ever else and yet they can sit happily on their asses and take gladly from section eight, food stamps, social security, and voc rehab. Thank the Democrats for these social services assholes! If you are so proud to be Republican then get the fuck off government assistence!

Republicans say they want small government but they have no fucking problem taking from it as if it were big government. And don't even fucking get me started on Canada's disrespectful Conservative government.

Well fuck, they wanted to strip us of an awful lot of stuff. We certainly lost some stuff we'd have loved to keep, but oh fuck we got some concessions we never would have gotten from weaker voices. Thanks to our hard working union reps, working around the clock.

I guess since I'm not a Democrat then I should cancel my SSI. No big deal. I'll only be able to live off of meal plans at school and have no leisure money. I won't have a way to pay for my phone bill so I won't be able to talk to my family and friends, and if something bad happens to me I guess I'll just have to wait for someone who I don't know to take care of me and let my fate rest in their hands. No biggie, huh?
Ok the following only applies to people who take entitlements while complaining about people who take entitlemtns. If you don't take entitlements, or you don't complain about others when you do take them, the shoe doesn't fit. The shoe doesn't fit students either.
Just had to put this out there, for those who never grew up learning that if the shoe fits, wear it.
Here's the thing, Ryan. And it's not limited to the blind.
There are an awful lot of conservatives out there who, a. take massive amounts of government entitlements and subsidies, b. complain about people who use entitlements and subsidiees, and c. moralize about how everyone should be self sufficient. Sorry, if you are on entitlements, you are not self-sufficient. You are everyone-else-sufficient.
Ryan, you don't count, you're a student and students need to use entitlements. The rest of us should sponsor you. I'm no liberal from an economic standpoint, but I am at least an honest man. I had to take the SSDI for a year and so I cannot justifiably complain about other people who use entitlements. I'm a working man, so what kind of an arrogant asshole would I be if I took that entitlement for a year, then assumed everyone else who needed it was a leech?
If you never use entitlements ever, then go ahead: rail against them. I'm not big on social spending personally, but I know we can't do without it. I can't say I agree with the uniionized people on many counts, but this one has been a sore spot with me for many years. If you use entitlements, you have no right to criticize others who use entitlements. Period. And if you are looking for work while on entitlements, how dare you go around claiming somehow you are the special exception and everyone else on the system is just lazy. That's got to be the most ego-tripped self-inflated thinking I've ever heard of.
And by contrast, so the whiners on the Right don't get their pants in a wad: most of us during the 80s complained about how the Sierra club and others on the left preached environmentalism, while littering at their conventions, driving around in SUVs and criticizing other people in SUVs.
The point is, hypocrisy is hypocrisy and it destroys all your credibility. Any of you remember the likes of Jimmy Swaggart? Apparently he was a supporter of some sort of anti-sex situation and we came to find out he'd been fooling around. People weren't as upset that he was fooling around, as that he was loudmouthing it up first about how others should be and after that caught redhanded. It's like these anti-gay people we find so focused on gays, only we find out they're out having gay prostitutes or gay lovers. It's the same game. You play at it long enough, people will stop listening to you forever.
One thing I know: These entitlemeents-using conservaties, want my tax dollars for their own use, want to fund the People's Republic of China via offshoring, and complain when the middle class speaks up to try and catch a break. You want to know why they defend the richest 1%? Because they are not going to have to pick up the slack. I am. They're on entitlements, and the fact the rich spend overseas doesn't bother people who are freeloading it off the rest of us.
Again, I'm not into the class warfare idiocy: I'd just say we need to incentivize onshore spending but what do a bunch of churchgoing entitlements lackeys who are waiting on God to decide know about anything? Least of all anything about what it takes to be self-reliant. They're not standing up for something: they're just fighting over the public dole like a pen of pound puppies fighting over a single bowl of food, or a nest of rats over a piece of cheese. It has a veneer of ideology because they get to feel all big and powerful, without doing anything of what it takes to BE big. We used to say it was mainly the leftists who wanted to FEEL like they were doing something instead of accomplishing anything useful. Now all I gotta say is the Right is as pathetic as the left, and this is exemplified by the Right's entitlements users.
Make no mistake: Bush's Entitlements increases of 2003 far outpace anything the Obama administration has done. And the fact that middle-sized employers and middle-class taxpayers might see some minor improvements via the so-called Obamacare, really grinds at these lower class ones who wish they were big and powerful, and whose healthcare resembles something approximating what might come for many of us. Well, some of us have been on to the Left's game for years now. What made you think we wouldn't eventually be on to yours? Truth be told, the skam is up, people are figuring it out, and you got more people going rogue / independent than ever, for a reason. Every parlour trick gets figured out eventually, there are no exceptions.
When I had to go on the SSDI, I was forced to rethink some things. I don't know if I could've done it except I had the daughter to think about. If it was just myself, I don't know what I would have done. I honestly don't. So here I was, I couldn't get assistance from local charities, even when I offered to clean the head or do any other menial task as a quid pro quo to maybe get sonething to help us out. Now, I'm not a star in my field. I'm nothing other than an average man. If you saw me in a crowd, you'd most likely see right past me. Most do. Crowds are made of masses of humanity, and your attraction would be for something superb or outstanding. I have never had an outstanding portfolio, and that is what outstanding people get for their reward in a reasonable capitalist society like ours.
That being said: if an average man who might otherwise be unrecognizable in a crowd, has difficulty with the entitlements situation, struggles and gets off of it, then how could I imagine that all these others on said system are somehow some sort of bleeders? Either I have to have a piss-ant punk attitude and need to take it out on everyone else, to make myself feel better, or I've got an enormous ego. Way bigger than the egos you wrote about on that board about egos. Seriously: If I'm going to say that all these entitlements users are a bunch of scum, except for me of course when *I* needed them, what does that really say about me? Think about it. I mean think: not just feel. Feel about it is for the Left. You claim to be Right, so use your goddamn head for something other than a hat rack, and think. Process this one out, and see what makes some sense here.
So there ya go: first time it's happened in my rather unnatural life, I have agreed to some extent with a Unionite.
Very well said LeoGuardian. I really enjoyed reading your post. And I was not speaking about students using these benefits either. That's fine, they are going to school trying to better themselves. I am talking about those that complain about people taking benefits when they sit there and use them as well.
